Show Me the Moon
|
Thousands of characters have found their way to Luclin this week with the opening of the Shadows of Luclin expansion on the Fippy Darkpaw server.
I think back to January when a dev (I forget who it was atm) made the comment that they're particularly interested in seeing how long players will vote 'no' to unlock Luclin. There's always been some talk that "EQ was best before Luclin" but I've always suspected those real nostalgia-seekers were somewhat of a minority. I also expect that this vote probably passed by another landslide, but that's just an educated guess.
I'm pretty certain the nostalgics have moved on from the TLPs. I could be wrong - let me know if I am. But I think Luclin came at a time when many of us were quite ready for it. And I'm not just talking about the end-game raiders. I know many casual players who were just itching for Luclin too.
Put simply, I just don't believe that EQ's hay-day was Classic, Kunark, and Velious. Personally I'm a big fan of Luclin and PoP. I know others who are believers in GoD, and others who vote their favorite expansion as one of the later expacs. But I will say this: I could not bear another month of an AA-less game. Even if there had been AAs in Velious I don't think I could stomache grinding the light blues to get them. And not mention the content in Luclin, while some may feel is far-fetched in terms of lore, is actually quite fascinating and in-depth.
So, take me to the moon, Captain SOE. I'm ready for it, and I'm ecstatic that it's here. This, to me, is when EQ really starts. |
